SPLIT UP:The TEEN Years - FOR TEENS

The roller coaster of divorce ...

When parents separate, it’s a wild ride for everyone... especially for kids. But we have talked to lots of kids who have not only survived their parents’ divorce, but are stronger, smarter, and more confident because of it.

SPLIT offers an opportunity for you to hear from twelve kids who have been through divorce and survived. The kids in SPLIT are wise and funny, and they tell it like it is.

Chances are, you will relate to much of what the SPLITkids share about their experiences of divorce. Kids listen to other kids in a different way than they listen to the adults in their lives. It also may comfort you to see your many feelings, fears, and surprises mirrored by other kids.

Many kids will watch SPLIT and want to share it with their other parent or with their extended family.

While divorce is hard, kids can still become capable, confident, and happy. Although your journey may have started with a lot of twists and turns, life levels out for most kids. Transitions between homes gradually become smoother. Kids find ways to talk about the hard stuff, but they also find good things about the many changes in their lives.

Every family is different, just like every person is different. And while some families may look perfect from the outside, every family has its challenges. A family doesn’t have to be “perfect” to be good.

Divorce doesn’t end a family—it changes it.

Even though your family is changing, it’s still a family. Now, instead of having a family in one home, you have two homes... one with each parent. And while it may be hard to believe, this new version of family will start to feel normal very soon.
